Faculty Research Spotlight
Dr. Yuri Feito is an Associate Professor of Exercise Science at Kennesaw State University and a member of the graduate faculty at Kansas State University in the Kinesiology department. He has been involved in the medical fitness industry for over 15 years working with a variety of clinical population. Dr. Feito obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in Exercise Physiology where he studied the use of objective measures (e.g. accelerometers and pedometers) to promote and measure physical activity among individuals of all ages. Dr. Feito has master degrees in Movement Science and Public Health, is a fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), and is certified as a Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist (RCEP) and Certified Exercise Specialist (CEP).curriculum vitae
His current research examines the (1) physiological responses to high intensity functional training (HIFT), (2) psychosocial impact of this training modality, and (3) the incidence and prevalence of injuries among HIFT participants. Aside from his work related to HIFT, he has studied the role of Social Media in the classroom, for which he won the Wolters Kluwer Innovation in Teaching Award in 2018, and is currently pursuing a new line of research related to the use of blood flow restriction (BFR) as a therapeutic modality for individuals with chronic conditions.
